Active Exploration in Search and Rescue Environments Using a Quadruped Robot

📄 Author: Jorge García Samartín
🎓 Supervisors: Antonio Barrientos Cruz (ETSII-UPM) and Chrystian M. Cruz Ulloa (ETSII-UPM).

This work presents the development of a robotic system capable of autonomously carrying out intelligent and efficient exploration of unknown and potentially dangerous environments. Much as a human would, it does not scan the area along a predetermined route, but instead prioritises the regions of greatest interest for the search.

A Study of the Mediating Effect of Digital Capabilities on the Relationship between Different Digital Technologies and the Adoption of Circular Economy Practices Using PLS-SEM

📄 Author: Walid Allay Bakhtaoui
🎓 Supervisors: Alberto Urueña López (ETSII-UPM) and Alessandra Neri (POLIMI).

The work offers two findings of interest for industrial policy. Digital technologies are a driver of the transition towards a circular production model. The success of this transformation depends critically on the mediating role of the organisation’s dynamic capabilities. It also found significant differences when segmenting the data by company size, revealing that smaller companies do not manage to boost the adoption of circular economy practices through the development of their dynamic capabilities, a key factor for future business support strategies.
